A sheltered bay, caught in the warmth of a late spring afternoon

We visited this beach on a warm day in late spring. The view from the headland stopped us in our tracks - the way the water curved into the bay, that particular shade of blue-green that only happens when the sun is high and the sea is calm. It was too good not to paint.

This small oil painting captures that moment of stillness - the arc of pale sand, the gentle roll of the water, the headland holding everything in. Painted on canvas board in oil, it has the warmth and texture of a painting made with real feeling for the place.
