In a Spotlight
One pumpkin. One light. Nothing else needed.
This is the third and final painting in the Suffolk autumn pumpkin series - and the most stripped back. No companions, no antique vessels, no shelf. Just a single striped squash, placed alone in a pool of light, with the darkness pressing in from every side.
It is a painting about confidence - the confidence to let one object carry the whole composition. The striped skin catches the light differently on every ridge, shifting from deep green to warm orange to the bright white of the highlight at the crown. The shadow it casts is as considered as the object itself.
Painted in the tradition of Caravaggio and Rembrandt, and developed following an online study with David A. Leffel, one of the foremost living painters in the classical realist tradition. Where the first two paintings in this series explore arrangement and relationship, this one asks a simpler question: what happens when you give one thing your full attention?

Collecting original art
Owning an original painting means owning something no one else in the world has. This piece was painted entirely by hand by Marta Stolarska - every ridge, every shift of colour, every edge of shadow observed with patience and care. It arrives ready to frame and treasure.
One pumpkin, in a spotlight, in a Suffolk studio in autumn. Sometimes that is enough.
