By the entrance to Oulton Broads, on the St Michael's Church side, there are stables - horses and the quiet rhythm of stable life, a wonderful thing to walk past and appreciate. It is a place of gentle, everyday beauty. But one evening, a sunset arrived that transformed it entirely. The trees by the stables turned a colour so extraordinary, so warm and vivid and unexpected, that it stopped everything. That is the moment this painting holds.
