These are not florist roses. They are the kind you harvest from the garden on a quiet afternoon - small, imperfect, and more beautiful for it. Arranged in a terracotta vase with the warmth of Greek antiquity in its form, they catch the light as it moves across the composition, illuminating a petal here, casting a soft shadow there. Some have already fallen to the table.
Rose Magic is a painting about the beauty of things that do not last - the way a cut rose is most itself in the hours before it lets go. The light moves. The petals fall. And in that movement, something is held still forever in oil on canvas.
