This still life was painted to explore how that feeling translates into objects - specifically into pottery, whose curves and glazes and earthy tones absorb and reflect warm light in a way that no other material quite does.

Mediterranean Glow is an imagined still life, not a specific place or a specific pot, but a distillation of a feeling - the warmth of terracotta in afternoon sun, the glow of a glaze that has drunk in the light, the particular atmosphere of a table or a shelf in a sun-warmed room somewhere south.
