Early spring on the marshes - warm light, a winding path, and the wind in the trees

Oulton Marshes is one of those places that changes with every season and rewards every visit. This small study was painted on a warm but blustery early spring day - the kind where the light is generous but the wind keeps reminding you it is not quite summer yet. The greens are fresh and bright, the sky full of movement, and somewhere in the middle distance a church tower stands quietly among the trees.

Painted on a cradled wooden panel, this is a study in the truest sense - a direct, honest response to a scene observed and felt. Small in format but full of the particular energy of that day on the marshes.

Collecting original art

Every original painting in the studio is a one-of-a-kind piece - once it finds its home, it is gone. If this painting speaks to you, it is worth trusting that feeling. Original art brings something into a space that a print simply cannot - the texture of the brushwork, the knowledge that a real person stood before a real view and tried to capture it honestly.

A small oil study of Oulton Marshes in early spring - fresh colours, open sky, and the quiet life of the Suffolk countryside.
