The sea on a warm afternoon - gentle, unhurried, and quietly alive

Corton Beach is one of those places that feels like it belongs to a slower world. It is where we come with the dog, to walk, to sit, to watch the fishermen and let the day unwind. In summer it stays quiet - none of the crowds you find elsewhere - just the sound of the waves and the wide Suffolk sky.

This painting was made back in the studio after a warm day at the beach. The waves were there that afternoon, but gentle - the kind that roll in softly and pull back without fuss. That quality of stillness and movement together is what I wanted to capture. The sky takes up most of the canvas, as it always does on this stretch of coast.

Collecting original art

Every original painting in the studio is a one-of-a-kind piece - once it finds its home, it is gone. If this painting speaks to you, it is worth trusting that feeling. Original art brings something into a space that a print simply cannot - the texture of the brushwork, the knowledge that a real person stood before a real view and tried to capture it honestly.

A Suffolk seascape painted from life - gentle waves, wide sky, and the quiet of a beach that still feels like it belongs to the locals.
