This print began as a watercolour painting that sold before it barely had time to breathe - one of a series of Birmingham scenes painted from life that found collectors almost immediately. The original is gone. But the image was too good to leave behind entirely, and so it returns here, in a limited edition of just 50 prints, made to the highest archival standards.

The view is Corporation Street in winter - tram lines cutting through the scene, silhouetted figures crossing the street, the particular atmosphere of a city in the cold that watercolour captures better than almost any other medium. There is something timeless about this kind of urban scene - the anonymous figures, the geometry of the tram lines, the winter light - and something very specifically Birmingham about it too. A city going about its day, observed and held still in paint.
